La Ética y el Sumak Kawsay

Me quisiera presentar ante ustedes como un hermano más en este camino, como un aprendiz eterno.
Hoy nos convoca una pregunta luminosa:
¿Cómo encarnamos el Buen Vivir en nuestras acciones, decisiones, miradas y silencios?
El Sumak Kawsay no es una idea ni un sistema. Es un latido profundo que nos recuerda que vivir no es consumir ni resistir, sino fluir, sanar y servir.
Un código no es una ley, es un latido
Un código ético, para nosotros, no es un conjunto de mandatos ni castigos. Es como el latido del corazón de la comunidad: nos mantiene unidos, vivos, conscientes.
Es la memoria del equilibrio, como la savia que sube por el árbol cuando nadie la ve. Así como las aves no preguntan cómo debe volar, nosotros no deberíamos preguntar cómo debemos vivir, si escuchamos desde adentro. La ética verdadera es esa voz interior que susurra:
“Actúa desde la medicina, no desde la herida”.
Para los buscadores de visión: la ética del propósito
Quien sube a la montaña ayuna no solo de comida, sino de excusas.
Busca recordar su Jatun Muskuy, su gran propósito. Pero no lo hace solo para sí. El propósito sin comunidad es ambición disfrazada.
El buscador de visión actúa con:
Humildad: sabe que no sube como un maestro, sino como barro en transformación.
Disciplina y Voluntad: ayuna del ruido y escucha la voz del viento.
Sinceridad: no lleva máscaras ante la montaña.
Gratitud e integridad: porque cada noche estrellada es una maestra y necesitamos integrar cada día de nuestra vida de la mejor manera, agradeciéndolo
Subir con respeto, regresar con medicina. Ese es su pacto ético.
Para los guías y guardianes del camino: ética del servicio
Los que sostenemos el espacio del ayuno, del círculo, del fuego, no somos jefes ni jueces.
Somos guardianes del silencio de nuestra familia, somos testigos de la vida de nuestros hermanos. Nuestra ética es un equilibrio entre la firmeza y la ternura.
El guía ético:
No toma poder, lo sostiene con ligereza.
No impone, propone caminos.
No señala errores, escucha con el corazón abierto.
Recordemos siempre: la medicina actúa a través de nosotros, no por nosotros.
No somos fuente, somos cauce.
Para los caminantes: ética de la siembra
A quienes llegan por primera vez y a los que no, les decimos: estás sembrando una semilla en tu alma. Cuídala con actos pequeños:
Respeta el espacio como un templo vivo.
Escucha más de lo que hablas.
Camina con atención, incluso en lo invisible.
No se espera perfección. Se espera presencia.
Principios compartidos del Código Ético del Sumak Kawsay
Estos principios son el aliento del Consejo, las raíces de toda acción:
Ayni (Reciprocidad): Dar es recibir. Servir es medicina.
Munay (Amor): El amor no es emoción, es voluntad armoniosa.
Llankay (Trabajo): Toda acción es sagrada si nace del corazón.
Yachay (Sabiduría): Saber es vivir en relación, no en competencia.
Tinkuy (Encuentro): Toda diferencia es una posibilidad de tejer algo nuevo.
Kawsay Purina (Caminar la vida): No hay destino, solo camino consciente.
Que nuestra vida sea una ofrenda
Estamos aquí no por haber cumplido años de ayuno, sino porque el fuego sigue ardiendo en nuestro pecho.
La ética del Sumak Kawsay es eso: vivir como si cada gesto fuera un canto. Como si cada palabra tejiera puentes.
Como si cada mirada bendijera el mundo. No necesitamos perfección. Solo verdad. Solo presencia. Solo corazón.
Que el puma nos enseñe el paso firme, que las águilas nos eleven la mirada, que la semilla de nuestro propósito florezca en comunidad

Today, we gather around a luminous question:
How do we embody Buen Vivir in our actions, decisions, gazes, and silences?
Sumak Kawsay is not an idea or a system. It is a deep heartbeat that reminds us that living is not about consuming or resisting, but about flowing, healing, and serving.
The Code Is Not a Law, It Is a Heartbeat
An ethical code, for us, is not a set of rules or punishments.
It is like the heartbeat of the community: it keeps us united, alive, and aware.
It is the memory of balance, like the sap rising quietly within the tree.
Just as birds don’t ask how to fly, we shouldn’t ask how to live—if we are truly listening from within. True ethics is that inner voice that whispers:
“Act from your medicine, not from your wound.”
For Vision Questers: The Ethics of Purpose
Those who climb the mountain do not fast only from food, but from excuses.
They seek to remember their Jatun Muskuy, their great purpose.
But not just for themselves. Purpose without community is ambition disguised.
The vision quester acts with:
Humility: knowing they walk up not as masters, but as clay in transformation.
Discipline and Will: fasting from noise to hear the voice of the wind.
Sincerity: leaving behind all masks before the mountain.

The Ethics of Service
Those of us who hold the space of fasting, the circle, the fire—we are not judges or chiefs.
We are guardians of our family’s silence, witnesses of our brothers’ and sisters’ lives.
Our ethics is an equilibrium between firmness and tenderness.
An ethical guide:
Does not seek power, but carries it lightly.
Does not impose, but offers paths.
Does not point fingers, but listens with an open heart.
Let us always remember: Medicine acts through us, not because of us.
We are not the source—we are the channel.
For Walkers on the Path: The Ethics of Sowing
To those arriving for the first time—or the hundredth—we say:
You are planting a seed in your soul. Care for it through small, sacred acts:
Honor the space as a living temple.
Listen more than you speak.
Walk with awareness, even through the unseen.
We do not expect perfection. We expect presence.

These principles are the breath of the Council, the roots beneath every action:
Ayni (Reciprocity): To give is to receive. To serve is medicine.

May Our Life Be an Offering
We are here not because we have completed years of fasting,
but because the fire still burns in our chest.
The ethics of Sumak Kawsay is this:
To live as if each gesture were a prayer, as if every word wove bridges, as if every gaze blessed the world.
We do not need perfection—only truth, presence, and heart.
May the puma teach us steady steps, may the eagles lift our vision, may the seed of our purpose bloom in community.
